Unlike a Metric fuckton, a metric shit-ton is defined as the volume equal to a metric ton of shit. However as no one has designated a standard type of shit, varying shit densities can create errors in measurement.
As a result, the shit-ton has generally been abandoned as an official measurement, with most adopting the newer fuckton as their standard measurement.
